SHARE WITH US A BIT ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY IN BRINGING LOCAL JUICERY TO FRUITION.
Local was a dream for so long... I just didn't believe in myself! I was trying to find what it was that I was meant to do... I had a successful blog, a book I had written, I had a good clientele base and on paper was doing pretty well. But in my heart, something was missing. I was uninspired, I found myself feeling depressed and un-energized. I remember one day I could barley walk up the stairs.
I went to my Naturopath to see what was wrong with me. After a ton of tests she said I was totally healthy. Why did I feel so bad? About 3 months later I began really focusing on Local Juicery. It was something I had worked on in the past but never felt I could realistically do. This time I decided I was going to go for it. The moment I decided, that is the moment my energy came back. My heart was on fire, my passion was lit up!
WERE YOU INTRODUCED TO HOLISTIC LIVING + WELLNESS AT A YOUNG AGE OR COME ACROSS IT LATER IN LIFE?
I grew up in Sedona, AZ (a mecca for spirituality and wellness) with a Waldorf educator as a mama. She is a vegetarian and has a past in raw food and natural healing. We never went to the doctor, no immunizations, no chemicals...very back to the earth. I was actually born on a 10 acre self sustainable farm with a midwife. So yes, holistic living came early...
As many do, I veered heavily away from it in my teens and early 20's. I left Sedona to go to college in Los Angeles when I was 18. I worked in the music business and as a professional makeup artist. The lifestyle was harsh. I drank way to many cocktails and didn't feed my body or my soul well. I was addicted to bad relationships, I couldn't be alone and I didn't like myself. I desperately wanted to love myself but just didn't know how.
It's a long story of how I found my way back, how I learned to love myself. I can say that The Course of Miracles and Byron Katie books were two huge parts of my recovery from self hatred. When I started to see myself as more than just a body, I started to care for my body in a deeper way. I began to love myself again on a deep level.
WHAT DAILY RITUALS ARE NON-NEGOTIABLES FOR YOU TO HELP YOU STAY BALANCED + CENTERED?
Some form of connection with source in the morning. Breath work has been really important for me in my life. Sometimes this connection is quick and sometimes I linger. As long as I tap in, my day is smooth and I approach everything with an understanding that all is as it should be.
I always have some kind of nourishing morning drink and take my supplements/herbs. I do my work in the first part of the day when I'm energized and focused. I always connect with my husband in the morning. He works in California and I'm in Sedona most of the time so we do a lot of FaceTime and calls. I like him to know he's the first thing on my mind.
Essential oils! I use a diffuser in my home and shop. This balances me so nicely. Some form of movement is essential to me. For my health both physically and mentally.
DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY.
Mmm. The perfect day...
Wake up to my sweet little boy cuddled next to me. Listen to his morning musings. Yoga. Cold brew kyoto style coffee. Work! The beach. Farmers market. Nap with my loves. Making dinner with family, inspired chats with my husband.
WHAT IS A TYPICAL BREAKFAST? LUNCH? DINNER? SNACK?
BREAKFAST :: in the morning I always do warm lemon water, then I have a smoothie of some sort, lately it's been a young coconut with colostrum, pine pollen, mucuna pruriens , raw cacao, spinach and a pinch of sea salt. Perfection for healthy energy!
LUNCH :: often this is a smoothie too because I'm so busy! I've been keeping it simple with frozen berries, kale, spinach, almond butter and raw local honey. It's refreshing and doesn't weigh me down.
DINNER :: usually consists of a huge salad with all the colors of the rainbow, yams baked with olive oil, rosemary and a cashew sauce. Sometimes I make fritattas with lots of seasonal veggies. I love dinnertime! I finish with a kombucha float! My good friend Charis turned me on to these, it's coconut ice-cream (the vegan one) with any kombucha. Divine.
SNACK :: some kind of raw chocolate, lately it's been Antidote, no sweetener, just pure raw cacao.
FAVORITE BEVERAGE? IS IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE A FAVORITE LOCAL JUICE?
This is the hardest question for me. I live on 80 percent liquids being at Local Juicery all the time! We have a juice called Skinny Greens, it's cucumber, green apple, kale, spinach and jalepeno. It's fiery. I'm in love with the kick. I'm also a big fan of Wild Tonic (a local kombucha company in Sedona).
WHERE IS/ARE YOUR MOST FAVORITE PLACE/S TO BE ON THIS EARTH?
Right now...Leucadia, California at Grandview Beach with my son and hubby. Actually pretty much anywhere with my son and hubby.
WHAT PROFESSIONAL BEAUTY | FITNESS | WELLNESS GURUS INSPIRE YOU?
Ahhhh! So many. This is such a fun question.
Beauty...I'm actually in love with my best friend Nicole Branch she is a model and actress in LA. She is gorgeous naturally and has an inner glow that radiates out. She's effortless in her beauty routine and I love that she understands that outward beauty and inward health go hand in hand.
As for over all wellness (fitness + health), I have such an amazing circle of friends in this industry, I can't choose one.
I absolutely adore the ladies over at Sakara Life, also Sedona natives. I think what they are doing is magical and the way they go about everything is really grounded and real. I love that woman like Whitney and Danielle are out there running companies that are meaningful, helping other woman and truly machine a difference.
Lacy Phillips from Free + Native, You! Melissa, Meredith Baird author of Coconut Kitchen, Sophie Jaffe of Philosophie Mama, KC Baker...the list is long! Gabby Bernstein, Latham Thomas. So many inspiring woman.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MANTRA?
I love the universe, the universe loves me, everything is perfect when I go with the flow.
WHAT IS THE LATEST BOOK ON YOUR NIGHTSTAND?
Books...I love them. There is never just one on my night stand. Right now there is:
- Waking Up by Sam Harris
- A Course In Miracles, A Return to Love by Marianne Williamson

SHARE WITH US 3 SONGS ON YOUR CURRENT PLAYLIST.
I used to be so into finding new music, it was a part of my day! I feel like since I've become a mama I've been slacking in the music department. I'm always playing
- Ong Namo by Snatam Kaur, the live version. It puts Henry to sleep
- Old Thing Back by Matoma, a Notorious Remix. Just so good.
- 93 Million Miles by Jason Mraz because it makes me happy! He came into Local the other day and it made my year!
