THIS where Stephanie lives + thrives.
And most importantly, where she empowers her clients to go through her amazing wellness classes and individual coaching.
I met Stephanie as we were both embarking on a new journey in holistic nutrition. She had taken the course before me, and she may not know this, but was my deciding factor to take the leap to enroll. We've been friends ever since. She is one of the most authentic + passionate people that I've ever met. And she has such a refreshing take on wellness, food, cooking, self care, and living seasonally. She empowers intuitive eating, cultivating your inner compass, and getting deeply connected to how food and your surroundings make YOU feel. Her approach to living is SEXY + DEEPLY ROOTED, her recipes are HEALING AND NOURISHING, and her words INSPIRED + INSPIRING. Just the simple act of reading one of her beautiful blog posts or newsletters can instill calm, priceless reflection, and motivation to embrace and continue your own journey.
I adore her!

DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY.
Hmmmm, I would have to say I feel my best when I create a sense of balance to my days. Where I'm spreading myself around to all the people I care about. I can't be everywhere at once but if I can distill my to-do list down to the very most important elements that's a success.
I would probably wake early, around 6am before my little ones wake. I like starting slow and quiet. Coffee on the porch with the birds. I work best in the mornings, so I try to plan to get all of my writing, coaching and necessary correspondence done during that time. Around lunch time I might wander to the beach or one of my favorite parks for a stroll and a picnic with my love. Afternoons I like to do activities with my kids and then come home to crash and plan a simple dinner. In the evening my family might play some board games or do a movie night. Once the children are tucked into bed I love indulging in some wine and candlelight, dreaming and scheming about the future.
WHAT IS A TYPICAL BREAKFAST? LUNCH? DINNER? SNACK?
Breakfast is tough for me since it's a lot of doing getting my boys off to their schools. I usually end up eating a brunch around 10am. I love making a simple frittata with tomatoes and greens and maybe some fresh juice as well. Lunch is late, around 2pm and usually the biggest meal of the day for me. In the summer I'll make a giant salad full of roasted veggies, fruits, nuts, seeds and a protein drizzled with a zippy homemade dressing. In the cooler months, soup and gluten free bread is a favorite. I LOVE simple, snacky dinners...Crackers with hummus blended with greens and pungent herbs, some artisanal cheeses and cured meats. For snacks, I love marcona almonds with fresh rosemary and some sparkling mineral water. I'm in total summer mode right now so there is a lot of raw and mostly raw meals, fruit infused water and grilling going on.
It's pretty much impossible to pick between fresh watermelon blended with mint and coconut milk and a really good Moscow Mule, at least for the summer. In winter I'm all about hot cups of tea, like a spicy chai of a nice full red wine.
WHAT IS YOUR ABSOLUTE FAVORITE INDULGENCE?
Exquisite bath products, good cheese, wine and chocolate. Oh and yummy interior design magazines.
WHAT WOULD YOUR LAST MEAL ON EARTH BE?
I would love a repeat of this amazing meal I had in a restaurant in Boston's North End. It was a simple grilled seafood platter...scallops, langostino, squid, etc. It was perfectly cooked and dressed with nothing but salt, pepper and lemon juice. I almost died it was so perfect.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE MEAL OR RECIPE THAT YOU'D LIKE TO SHARE WITH US?
For sure! I love eating raw in the summer as much as possible. I adore ceviche, no sweating over the grill of the oven. Full of life force energy and sooo tasty! Here's my recipe for Salmon Ceviche Roll Ups using lime juice to "cook" the fish.
INGREDIENTS | 6 ounces wild caught salmon, skin removed, thinly sliced | 1/2 cup lime juice | 1 clove of garlic sliced thin | 1 tsp grated ginger | a sprinkle of cumin and coriander | Sea salt | 1 head tender lettuce, such as Boston, leaves separated | 1 mango, peeled and thinly sliced | 1 avocado, thinly sliced | 1 red bell pepper, seeded and julienned | A few scallions | 1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves
DIRECTIONS | Pour lime juice over cod in a glass baking dish | Season with garlic and ginger, ground spices and salt | Cover and refrigerate until fish is opaque, about 30 minutes | For each roll, stack two lettuce leaves and top with some salmon, mango, 1/3 of a scallion, avocado, pepper, and cilantro | Season with salt and a drizzle of olive oil | Roll and slice in half.
WHERE IS/ARE YOUR MOST FAVORITE PLACE/S TO BE ON THIS EARTH?
Oh gosh this sounds so sappy but my immediate thought was anywhere my love and my boys are! They might drive me crazy sometimes but wherever they are is where I want to be. It would be really nice though if that place could mostly be hiking in the mountains or swimming in the sea.
WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Women who know who they are and don't apologize for it.
WHAT DAILY RITUALS ARE NON-NEGOTIABLES FOR YOU TO HELP KEEP YOU BALANCED AND CENTERED?
I like to keep things simple. I love fancy rituals but making them routine can be challenging for me. The two non-negotiables for me is fresh spring water and vegetables. If I go a meal without vegetables I immediately begin to feel ungrounded. I strive to make my plate as colorful as possible every day. Beauty is incredibly important to me and totally a necessary ingredient in my kitchen. Hydration is also key for me and I'm all about quality. I refuse to drink tap water so we collect all our drinking and cooking water from a local spring. It's sounds like a ton of trouble but we have been doing it for years and filling up 8-9 gallons each week really isn't too much of a big deal and the pay off is huge.
WHAT PROFESSIONAL BEAUTY | FITNESS | HEALTH GURUS ARE YOU INSPIRED BY?
There are SO many amazing people out there that inspire me and light me up. But I truly believe that we should be our own gurus, it's the only way for your life to truly be yours. Don't be afraid to take ownership and cultivate your inner intuition. We all deserve to have a very strong inner compass. That is actually a lot of what my one-on-one client work circles around. It's juicy stuff.
PLEASE SHARE WITH US A FAVORITE BEAUTY SECRET, TIP, OR PRODUCT?
I feel like so much can be cured by fresh green juice, flower essences and high quality essential oils. Not really a tip but incorporating different, natural healing modalities into your life is so beautiful and necessary. I do love playing with products though! Currently I'm enjoying Shamanuti's charcoal cleanser, Arcona's cranberry gromage and lovely rosewater for toner. I'm not a huge makeup girl but I'm loving Pacifica's line for easy, shimmery and very wearable colors. I'm on the lookout for the perfect summer moisturizer, I need your help Melissa! You always know all about the good stuff.
WHAT DO YOU DO TO RELAX? DO YOU HAVE A DAILY PRACTICE?
Reading, taking solo walks and remembering that some form of pleasurable exercise is essential to stress management. We are lucky that we have access to a sauna and a steam room where we live. It's so restorative on the winter! Sometimes I have trouble letting go, in those cases I love using Bach's Rescue Remedy and doTerra's Serenity, Balance and Whisper blends. A hot bath with salts, scrubs, lotions and potions is quite nice too!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MANTRA THAT YOU LIVE BY?
All is as it should be...for now.
WHAT IS THE LATEST BOOK ON YOUR NIGHTSTAND?
The Untethered Soul. I'm just getting into it but so far it's pretty great!
SHARE WITH US 3 SONGS ON YOUR PLAYLIST RIGHT NOW?
OH my gosh, I'm SO lame when it comes to music. I never know what's new and hip so I resort to the old tried and true stuff. Lately there has been a lot of Bob Dylan, Journey and Fleetwood Mac on rotation in our house.
