I have been using TRUE BOTANICALS for over 2 years now and their thoughtfully produced and thoroughly tested products continue to blow my mind. Their PACIFIC line, is not only beautiful and smells like the most luscious garden, but it is one of the most effective beauty lines that I have ever come across...completely change your skin effective. I am continually drawn to companies, lines, creators + creations that are informed from a winding journey. A journey that has inevitably created a bounty of knowledge that is meant to be shared with the world. Creator + CEO Hillary Peterson's journey, which she will share more about below, and the resulting knowledge, is now woven into something really special + revolutionary. She is passionate about producing not only stunning skincare, but a line that is thoughtful on every level: from the highest quality ingredient sourcing + safety, to scientific testing + clinical trials, to packaging + sales approach. My daily ritual includes some of my favorites from the line: the PACIFIC EXFOLIATING CLEANSER, the PACIFIC NIGHT SERUM w RETINOL + PACIFIC VITAMIN C TREATMENT, followed by a few drops of their PACIFIC FACE OIL. Click HERE to get an inside glimpse at some of their products in clinical studies up against on one of the biggest cremes in the toxic luxury skincare world: Creme de La Mer. You will not believe the results.
They have also just debut their PACIFIC EYE SERUM which is infused with deeply rejuvenating + nourishing ingredients such as :: Tuberose stem cells, Cucumber seed oil, Wildcrafted Carrot seed oil, Evening primrose oil, Camellia seed oil, Blackberry seed oil.
I am thrilled that Hillary is here today to share with us a peak in to her world.
PLEASE SHARE WITH US A BIT MORE ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY TO THE WELLNESS WORLD. WHAT WAS/WERE YOUR INSPIRATION/S.
As a survivor of thyroid cancer and melanoma, I wondered how I could give myself the best possible chance to raise my three kids and grow old with my husband. I had a clear realization that I wanted to live the healthiest possible lifestyle because it is such a privilege to be here! Along the way, I have learned so much about the ecosystem of our bodies and I am so excited to help others live the healthiest possible lives.
SHARE WITH US ABOUT HOW TRUE BOTANICALS CAME TO BE.
I became aware of toxic exposure through our everyday products when research such as the umbilical cord blood study by the EWG confirmed that much of what goes on your skin is absorbed into your body. When I looked around, the options for luxurious and safe products were slim. I realized that this was an opportunity I had to pursue. It is so rewarding to set a higher bar for beauty -- our personal care routines should be transformative, luxurious and safe - for humans as well as the environment.
BALANCING RUNNING A BUSINESS AND STAYING PRESENT + CENTERED CAN BE QUITE CHALLENGING. WHAT DAILY RITUALS ARE NON-NEGOTIABLES TO HELP YOU MAINTAIN THAT BALANCE?
Oh how I wish that my meditation practice was a non-negotiable…I am trying! I practice mindfulness meditation and when I do meditate, it makes such an incredible difference. Other centering activities that keep my life in balance are hiking, running, walking, and Qi Gong. I try to do at least one thing every day. I have also found that it is so important to focus on enjoying the moment and prioritizing the journey over the destination. I often have to tell myself: ‘One step at a time”.
DESCRIBE AN IDEAL DAY.
On my ideal day, I wake up, meditate, have breakfast & coffee on my porch and then walk to work. I love the people that I work with so spending the day with them is part of my ideal day. Our work is full of interesting conversations, creativity and mind expanding thinking…it is so rewarding. After a full day, I walk home and cook dinner with my youngest daughter, which is one of my greatest pleasures. Family dinners are definitely a highlight for me. They were a favorite part of my childhood and it means so much to me to be able to recreate that experience with my family.
WHAT IS A TYPICAL BREAKFAST? LUNCH? DINNER? SNACK?
Yogurt, granola, & berries. I make my own dehydrated granola with oats, soaked nuts, chia and hemp seeds so I start the day with lots of Omega 3 EFAs and protein. For lunch, I often have a green juice and some nuts or soup or a salad. I grew up in LA eating a lot of Mexican food. That is my absolute favorite. I make several different kinds of tacos, tostadas, and enchiladas. Snack? Nuts and raw chocolate – my favorite chocolate is from Raaka out of Brooklyn. It is AMAZING.
I must say that my morning coffee is a favorite! I am also loving turmeric tea with honey. My daughter and I have been having it every night. The more that I learn about the importance of anti-inflammatories, the more I remember to make that tea.
WHAT IS YOUR ABSOLUTE FAVORITE INDULGENCE?
I love to travel! It is so fun to explore different places and cultures and I always return with ideas for new products.
WHERE IS/ARE YOUR MOST FAVORITE PLACE/S TO BE ON THIS EARTH?
We rent an old fishing shack on a beautiful beach on the Big Island of Hawaii and it is such an incredibly relaxing, and grounding place for me. Spending time on the beach and in the ocean with my family and falling asleep listening to the waves….that is a true luxury.
WHAT OTHER BEAUTY, FITNESS, OR WELLNESS GURUS INSPIRE YOU?
Mark Hyman is my favorite doc. He has spent so much time learning about what contributes to wellness and I learn something new every time I read something that he has written. Kristina Holey is a skin healer. I recently had a facial with her and learned so much from her. My sister Tifney is an incredible acupuncturist and I learn from her every day about wellness and balance. What is good for the body is equally good for the skin. She often inspires me to look into ingredients that are not widely being used in skincare. This is an exciting time where ancient healing wisdom and modern science are intersecting in interesting ways. We are excited to be on the forefront of that movement.
PLEASE SHARE WITH US A FAVORITE BEAUTY SECRET OR TIP.
This weekend, I applied a whole plain yogurt mask after exfoliating with our Exfoliating Moisture Mask. I had forgotten how incredibly soft that duo can make your skin.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MANTRA?
I love this because it allows me to dream big and let go at the same time.
“Do your best and then relax. Let things go on in a natural way, rather than force them.” - Paramahansa Yogananda
WHAT IS THE LATEST BOOK ON YOUR NIGHTSTAND?
Jumpa Lahiri’s The Lowland. I have loved all of her books.
